A room dedicated to remembering missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls is part of the new Native Women’s Association of Canada headquarters in Gatineau, Que. The new headquarters — which officially opens Tuesday afternoon to coincide with National Indigenous Peoples Day — is in a former bank, with the memorial room located inside an open vault. Lynne Groulx, the association’s CEO, describes the room as colonial space that has been reclaimed. The headquarters also includes spaces for meetings, ceremonies, crafting and a coffee shop serving roasts from Indigenous-owned companies. (Photo by Jeff Pelletier)
