Mussel memory in Nunavik

Madeline Higgins spends her day picking mussels in Kuujjuarusik, outside of Kuujjuaq, on a warm Sunday in mid-September. The temperature hit 12 C on Sept. 11, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. Lucky strike for anglers

Olivier Morin and Daniel Cooper, two teachers in Kuujjuaq, used an iPhone with a special underwater housing to catch this image of a brook trout taking the bait on Quebec’s Lac Francine, northwest of Montreal. Here, Morin is seen casting a fly into the water where Cooper was waiting with the phone. They were part of a group of teachers from the Jaanimarik and Pitakallak schools on a camping and fishing trip in August before the start of school.
