Money will be used for air filtration systems, antimicrobial furniture in territory’s elders’ homes
Nunavut will get $3 million to improve safety measures in the territory’s elders-care homes under a new agreement between the federal government and Government of Nunavut.
Elder Olassie Machmer is a contestant for the Inuit traditional clothing contest in Pangnirtung on Tuesday, National Indigenous Peoples Day. Pangnirtung’s recreation committee has celebrated the day with this contest for a few years. Recreation co-ordinator Rosemary Alivaktuk said that day is meant “to celebrate our cultures; Inuit, First Nations and Indigenous cultures all around the world.” In previous years, Alivaktuk remembers the hamlet organizing a picnic and gathering for a feast.
