Mayor Joshua Arreak urges Inuit organizations to help address protesters’ concerns
The mayor of Pond Inlet is calling on two Inuit organizations to help address the concerns of protesters who have blockaded the airstrip and road at Baffinland’s Mary River iron mine.
Authorities say public hearings will go ahead despite bomb threats. But local political opposition to holding meetings during the pandemic may halt the process anyway.
